Cleveland beat Texas 9-4 on July 1.
The Guardians needed a response, and they got it in the second inning. Austin Hedges brought home Brayan Rocchio with a sacrifice bunt, then David Fry broke the inning open with a three-run homer to right-center.
Texas worked back into the game. Kyle Higashioka walked in a run in the third, then Elias Díaz and Nicky Lopez helped cut the lead to 5-3 in the sixth.
Cleveland answered in the seventh, with Chase DeLauter singling home Steven Kwan before a wild pitch brought DeLauter in. After Díaz homered for Texas in the eighth, Hedges put the game away with a two-run homer in the bottom half.
Joey Cantillo gave Cleveland five innings and earned the win. MacKenzie Gore took the loss.
