St. Louis Pushes Back Into the Race

The Cardinals beat the Braves 11-5 on July 2.

Jordan Walker gave St. Louis a quick 3-0 lead with a first-inning three-run homer, but Atlanta answered with five runs in the bottom half. Dominic Smith drove in three with a double as the Braves moved ahead 5-3.

St. Louis flipped the game in the seventh. Nathan Church tied it with a two-run homer, then JJ Wetherholt, Iván Herrera, Walker, Lars Nootbaar, and Masyn Winn all drove in runs as the Cardinals scored seven in the inning.

Alec Burleson added a solo homer in the ninth. Walker finished 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, and four RBIs.

The Cardinals improve to 45-39. The Braves fall to 50-35.
